The agency files of the administration of King County Executive Tim Hill (1986-1993) document the activities, interactions and communications of the County Executive or his staff with county executive departments, the County Council, the courts, other governmental and non-governmental organizations and agencies, and the general public. Record material includes board, commission, committee and task group meeting files; budget documents; contracts; correspondence and accompanying textual , visual or graphical material; interlocal agreements; newsletters; ordinances and motions referred to the King County Council; policies and procedures; and reports and studies, with the Executive Office staff retaining certain studies and reports separately (Series 1754, County Executive Tim Hill studies and reports files, 1982-1989. Extensive weeding of series 1754 resulted in the invalidation of many cross-reference sheets still present in the agency files.) Some of the major topics represented in the agency files include county jail facilities, and conditions and operations of the jail; economic development; Energy Resource /Recovery program (proposed solid waste incinerator); Goodwill Games (1990); growth management; HIV-AIDS and King County's response to the epidemic; land use planning; professional sports teams' usage of the Kingdome stadium; regional intergovernmental groups, including the Municipality of Metropolitan Seattle (Metro) and its proposed merger with King County government; reorganization of the Building and Land Development Division [county permitting agency]; space planning for county agencies; transportation planning; and the Washington State centennial (1989). Arrangement is by year, with an annual increment present for each year of the administration.
